In Bloemendaal’s Duin en Daal lies Villa Rodesteijn. The villa dates from 1902 and was built in a Dutch variant of Jugendstil. Villa Rodesteijn has been completely renovated and is now divided into six very luxurious flats with beautiful views of the surrounding garden and woodland. Villa Rodesteijn was designed in 1901 by architect J. Wolbers, in a Dutch variant of Jugendstil, with neo-Renaissance and other influences. The then 7-year-old daughter of the original residents placed a symbolic stone that can be seen next to the terrace doors. Villa Rodesteijn is characterised by careful detailing and a well thought-out interplay of lines. The house is image-defining for the immediate surroundings and also a listed building.
The history of the Bloemendaal district of Duin en Daal goes back to 1599. A bleachery used to be located here, which was converted into a country estate in 1774.
