Haarlemmerstraatweg 15 is located opposite the Halfweg-Zwanenburg railway station. History

The sugar factory opened in Halfweg in 1863. Sugar beets were processed into sugar here. The factory was owned by the Centrale Suiker Maatschappij for many years and until its closure in 1992, sugar was produced here. The houses along Haarlemmerstraatweg were built as overseers’ and workers’ houses and have been inhabited to this day. At the time of the sugar factory, the property at Haarlemmerstraatweg 15 was used as a first aid post. The photo on the right shows the house, although it was painted white at the time of the photo (1972).
